Star Wars Aficionado Transforms into Rey’s Sinister Empress Through Striking Cosplay

Content creator ZooGirlQ heads to the dark side of the Force as the Empress Rey Palpatine in some stunning Star Wars cosplay pictures.

A Star Wars cosplayer has shared images of herself as Rey Skywalker’s dark side persona, Empress Palpatine on social media.

A content creator who goes by the handle ZooGirlQ recently uploaded photos of her in costume as Dark Rey. “[C]all me.. Empress,” she wrote along with stunning photos that include the famous double-bladed lightsaber. The content creator replied to a fan and stated the cosplay was inspired by fan art by @dazzlingjedi. The Sith Daisy Ridley’s Rey first is seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 2019. Rey battles this mirror image of herself in the ruins of the Second Death Star.

Ridley was the first actor to play Rey in episode 7 of the Skywalker Saga. This episode was the 2015’s Star Wars, The Force Awakens. Rey was the main character of the sequel trilogy. She also appeared in 2017’s The Last Jedi, and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The character is also frequent in other media such as video games such as LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Battlefront II, and animated web series like Star Wars Forces of Destiny.

Rey is introduced in The Force Awakens as a Scavenger who was abandoned by the planet Jakku as a child. After discovering she is Force-sensitive, she is entangled in Resistance’s conflict against the First Order. She can train successfully to become a Jedi under Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa, and then is determined to restore the Jedi Order. Her name is Rey Skywalker.

While the sequel trilogy actors initially expressed their decision to not return to the franchise following the film’s release The Rise of Skywalker, they’ve since changed their statements. Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron in the sequel trilogy, recently said that he’s open to “anything.” Ridley has also said that she would love to play with a lightsaber in 2022, stating at the BAFTAs, “I’ll always be Rey.” She also admitted in 2021 that she had just met with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, although the details of the meeting weren’t disclosed. At this time, Ridley or Rey are not confirmed to appear in any of the announced Star Wars projects.

Lucasfilm is working on a variety of Star Wars films at the moment, including one directed by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof reportedly taking place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. However, Lindelof’s film is not the tenth episode of the Skywalker Saga, but instead, the first Star Wars project to explore the post-TROS timeline. Although plot details remain nonexistent as of now Lindelof is still busy co-writing the script for the film alongside Justin Britt-Gibson. Sources have said that the movie may feature characters from the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
