One-Punch Man Enthusiast Nails Saitama Cosplay with Humorous Low-Cost Approach

Have you ever wished to be as strong as Saitama? Although the building of a hero may seem impossible, there is a way to cosplay One Punch Man at a lesser cost.

One-Punch Man’s Saitama’s most memorable aspect is illustrated by a hilarious, inexpensive cosplay.

The photo, which user Garoukaral posted to Reddit shows a shaved head with an appropriately placed light bulb that comes together to recreate a scene from the manga in a perfect way. The cosplayer explained in a post that they’ve put in “some hard work” to create the Saitama’s figure but bemoaned the fact that “his body is not perfect and impossible to achieve.”

The Average Man is the Champion of One-Punch Man

The ongoing manga One-Punch Man by One currently on hiatus was first published on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website in June of 2012, and the series has produced 27 volumes of content to date. The story follows Saitama, who is an ordinary Joe before he realizes the pleasures of fighting and defeating monsters and villains. While he’s not blessed with superpowers, he can still do 100 push-ups, sit-ups, and squats each day, and run 10km a day. One-Punch Man has sold over 30 million copies globally and was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2015.

One’s manga received an animated adaptation, which originally was aired for two seasons from October 2015 and July 2019. Studio Madhouse (The Vampire Dies in No Time) produced the first season with J.C.Staff (The Executioner and Her Way Of Life) as the animator for Season 2. The show features Makoto Furukawa (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) as Saitama. While confirmation was announced for an additional season, little information is available at this moment.

One-Punch Man Fans Flex Their Creativity

Garoukaral’s low-budget costume isn’t the only funny piece of fan-created content that showcases Saitama in all his bald glory. Notably, an animation was uploaded by the Etoilec1 Animation YouTube channel toward the final episode of the season. The video showcases the hero fighting the battle-loving Dragon Ball Son Goku. The fight scene is full of over-the-top action and contains references to the iconic anime.

Moreover, fans of One’s work will find more to be thrilled about other than the impressive cosplays and fan-made videos. Earlier this year, the mangaka announced his next project — a series titled Ka-Ra Hai –, as well as the Anime News and Facts Twitter account, posted the cover of the series which features an unassuming young man with an eroding cityscape. Ka-Ra Hai is expected to be a single shot, and will be released on April 27.

VIZ Media distributes One’s manga series in North America, and the One-Punch Man anime adaptation is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
